ABOUT GREY STACK
This area has a long and cherished history of growing exceptional wines. The climate of the valley owes its cool coastal influence to the Petaluma Gap which flows into Sonoma Mountain during warm Summer days and cools down the vines each night.
SITUATED HIGH IN SONOMA MOUNTAIN
Three mountains make up the boundary for the AVA these include Mt. Taylor, Bennett Peak and Sonoma Mountain. These different mountains each have different micro climates. These micro climates allow us to grow outstanding Sauvignon Blanc from a cool spot at the base of Mt. Taylor as well as exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from our Four Brothers Vineyard high on Sonoma Mountain.
Grey Stack Cellars is owned by Patrick Sullivan who grew up in Bennett Valley and has over 20 years of experience in winemaking from Napa and Sonoma Counties. He started at Peter Michael and has held winemaking roles at Lewis Cellars, Paul Hobbs, Rudd as well as several small brands he consults for. He and his father, Jim Sullivan manage the families “Four Brothers Ranch” with his 3 brothers.
The wines produced from the Four Brothers Vineyard are the result of the passion and vision that began many years ago. Chris Bowland is our partner and has worked as a vineyard manager in the Bennett Valley AVA for decades. He knows these vines like the back of his hand and is a tremendous resource.
